The Breakfast Club

Thursday, January 16, 2020—Middle school teachers and staff gathered for their first Collaborative Learning Partnership meeting also known as "Breakfast Club" as a first step in strengthening their bond as colleagues and growing as educators. Over danishes and orange juice, they discussed the goals of the partnership and their vision for the middle school.

Elementary Atoms Celebrate Success

Wednesday, January 15, 2020—Atoms in grades K-4 that earned 75 plus dojo points in the month of December earned a special “Frozen Themed craft afternoon.” Complete with a Frozen sing alongside, Olaf puppets, Elsa crowns, and 2-D snowflakes! The PBIS committee loves to celebrate the hard work of students with different rewards monthly. Can’t wait for next month--a bounce house extravaganza!

Skating Through Winter

Wednesday, January 15, 2020—Fourth Grade Atoms visited Meachem Ice Rink for a morning of exercise and fun. Many students had never ice skated before, and they used their growth mindset to get back up and keep trying. Teachers were so proud of their Atoms for not giving up and helping their friends. Whether someone needed help getting up off the ice, or some encouragement to keep going, there was always a friend willing to lend a helping hand! Thank you, Meachem Ice Rink, for the wonderful visit.

Tuesday, January 21, 2020—Congratulations are in order for Syracuse Academy of Science Junior Huda Ali. Ali earned an Honorable Mention in the 2020 Central New York Scholastic Art Awards program. Her work was selected from over 4,600 entries for special recognition. Congratulations on this great achievement! Her piece, along with the winning pieces from other students, will be on display in the Whitney Applied Technology Center through February 28th.

First Grade Atoms Celebrate Creative Expression

Thursday, December 19, 2020—First-grade #SASAtoms celebrated the holiday season with a field trip to Painting with a Twist. Did any of these marvelous creations get hung in a place of honor in your home? Celebrating creativity and expression is just one of the ways we are building success one ATOM at a time. 

December Student of the Month

Tuesday, December 17, 2019—Caring & Compassionate. December Student of the Month Atoms were celebrated for their kind, caring, and compassionate nature for their peers and teachers. We also recognized a teacher that goes above and beyond not only to instill these virtues in her classroom but treats everyone with the care and compassion that they deserve. Thank you, Ms. Fogarty, and all of our celebrated Atoms!

Recycling with Atoms

Thursday, December 12, 2019—#SASCS Elementary Atoms in 2A counted and packaged markers that no longer work to be recycled by Crayola ColorCycle program. ColorCycle is a great opportunity for teachers and their students to explore and discuss eco-friendly practices. Way to go, Atoms!

Syracuse Academy of Science Varsity Boys Basketball team takes on the Utica Academy of Science

Saturday, January 4, 2019−Atoms collided when the Syracuse Academy of Science took on the Utica Academy of Science for the second annual Superintendent's Match last Saturday during the Mohawk Valley Basketball Classic. While Utica started with a strong lead, the Syracuse team turned the game around and walked away with the trophy. Until next year, Atoms.

Fourth Grade Atoms and the S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G B-E-E

Congratulations to Maria, Jayda, J’Shon, and Sajan for winning the 2019 Spelling Bee, and advancing to the next round of the competition

Thursday, December 12, 2019Fourth grade Atoms take to the stage and show off their impressive vocabulary knowledge and spelling skills at the annual Spelling Bee competition, in hopes of advancing to the next round - the local Spelling Bee. There were four students who overcame some incredibly challenging words, and took home the ‘gold’ and will advance to the next round. Congratulations to: Maria, Jayda, J’Shon, and Sajan. Amazing effort was shown by all who participated in the competition.
