
Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021—We all know that Syracuse Academy of Science middle school Atoms are hard workers, but did you know that they are pretty groovy too?! Congratulations to 5th grade student, Jaquarie for receiving this custom tie-dye design t-shirt from Ms. Brett’s art class for all of his hard work, amazing effort and perfect attendance in all of his Zoom classes. Thursday, February 4th, 2021—Syracuse Academy of Science middle school Project Based Learning (PBL) students are giving back to their community, one Blessing Box at a time. For their project, Atoms were tasked with pitching their Blessing Box idea to the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, the location where the winning team’s Blessing Box will be housed. In their presentation, the team of students were tasked with sharing what their box would look like, the contents that would be inside the box and how their box would benefit the community. Congratulations to the winning team, Samara H. Zaleya D. and Enas M. who will construct their box later this year.

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021—Earlier this week, the Syracuse Academy of Science Atoms were greeted early in the morning by the sweet sound of a ‘SNOW DAY!’ The students took a pause from remote learning and enjoyed the winter wonderland (and feet of snow) with their families and helping neighbors and those in need with snow removal. Stay warm Atoms and keep up the great work.

Friday, January 29th, 2021—As January came to a close, Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school hosted its virtual January Student of the Month ceremony. Friday, January 29th, 2021—We all know that Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school is a ‘cool school,’ but do you know how cool it really is? Let’s find out! Prior to National School Choice week - a week dedicated too promote parental choice in their children's education and celebration of our school community, teachers asked their students this question, ‘why do you love Syracuse Academy of Science (SAS)?’ Their responses were collected and compiled into a short video. Monday, January 25th, 2021—Does it get any better than welcoming back the Hybrid Learning Atoms and new SMARTBoards in the classroom? We think not! The Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school students had an incredible welcome back gift awaiting them in the classroom, SMARTBoards. To say the students were excited is an understatement. But we can say, there were more volunteers than usual to answer and solve math problems at the board. I think the Atoms were eager to try out their new gift. Please note the markers were sanitized and changed between each student’s use.

Tuesday, January 19th, 2021—Syracuse Academy of Science is excited to share its very own elementary school Atom, Amelia has won the 2021 Virtual Geography Bee. On Tuesday, January 19th, students Amelia and Chakiir both competed in this year’s competition. Participants were asked a series of questions that would progressively get more challenging each round. Students flexed their geography muscles and knowledge and their hard work certainly showed off. Congratulations, Amelia on winning the 2021 Geography Bee!
