Videos will be compiled and shared live via Zoom. Please see the details below for audition information and talent ideas.

Audition Information

Both hybrid and virtual learning students are eligible to audition for this year's virtual Talent Show. Please see the information below.

• Hybrid Learning Students: Auditions will be held on Friday, March 19th from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Please schedule a time to audition in-person.
• Virtual Learning Students: Audition video submissions are DUE Friday, March 19th. When creating your video submission please remember to have good lighting (not backlighting) and good sound (especially if you are singing or playing an instrument).

Thursday, February 25th, 2021—Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school hosted its monthly virtual Student of the Month Ceremony where it recognized students and staff for demonstrating the character trait, ambition. As we have many ambitious and hard working Atoms and staff at the school we would like to congratulate all of our nominees and the Atoms. Saturday, February 27th, 2021—The Syracuse Academy of Science high school boys Varsity and Junior Varsity basketball teams have faced many a fierce opponent this season with games that were certainly nail biters. The Atoms are currently ranked 4th in their division with two games left in the seasons. Their next game is scheduled for 03/09 against Bishop Grimes. Their season will conclude on 03/11 against their opponent, Bishop Ludden. Good luck, Atoms! Saturday, February 27th, 2021—The Syracuse Academy of Science high school Lady Atom’s varsity and JV Basketball teams are having quite the season. The varsity Lady Atoms are currently ranked 3rd in their division and most recently took on cross-town rivals, Christian Brothers Academy.

The next game for the Lady Atoms will be on 03/09 against their opponent Bishop Grimes. Their season concludes on 03/11 against their opponent, Bishop Ludden. Good luck, Atoms! Friday, February 12th, 2021—In preparation for Black History Month, the Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school teachers were busy at work flexing their creativity. Lining the hallways and entrances to their classrooms were filled with pictures and quotes of influential African Americans the Atoms would be learning about throughout the month of February. Friday, March 5th, 2021—This high school senior has some serious game both in the classroom and on the court. Let us welcome to the ‘hot seat,’ Marcus Pasha. Syracuse Academy of Science had an opportunity to virtually interview Marcus, who shared with us his plans following graduation, his hidden talent, favorite memory at Syracuse Academy of Science and so much more. • What is one major accomplishment you had in your senior year of high school? Being accepted into my first college!
• What are your goals for after high school? To go to college and major in Neuroscience.
• Name one person that inspires you? My older sister.
• What advice would you give to the next senior class? Don't fall behind in work.
• Where do you see yourself in five years? I see myself working as a Neuroscientist for a company in Florida.
• If you could have dinner with any person living or dead who would they be and why? Wilt Chamberlain, because I wanna know if all those myths about him were true.
• Name three traits that describe you? Annoying, funny, and friendly.
• What is your favorite hobby? Playing Basketball
• What is a hidden talent that no one or only a few people know about you? I can secretly do a 360 dunk.
• What is your favorite memory of SAS? Last year's basketball season.

Friday, February 26th, 2021—In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Black History Month the 6^th and 7^th grade Atoms at Syracuse Academy of Science middle school participated in an Art and Writing Contest. Students were tasked with creating works of art in the form of a poem, short story, essay, digital poster, drawing or painting. For their efforts, participants received certificates and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. themed t-shirts. With many great entries, we would like to congratulate the following students for their art and writing submissions.

Students in elementary, middle and high school observed the month by learning about contributions African Americans have made to this country. Today, we share the work created by the high school Atoms in the Social Justice Committee. Their posters highlight a celebration of various African American achievements. Monday, March 1st, 2021—In honor of Women’s History Month, Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school will be honoring 22 noble women who have made a cultural and or historical impact on society. Some of the women featured include and are not limited to: Princess Diana, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Anne Frank, Michelle Obama, Malala Yousafzai and many more. Syracuse Academy of Science high school had an opportunity to virtually interview English teacher, Ms. Boller who shares some great advice for the Atoms, along with her favorite book, biggest accomplishment and oh so much more! • What three traits define you? Determined, Caring, and Helpful.
• What is your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment is graduating Syracuse University with honors. 
• Best book you have ever read? The best book I have ever read is The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.
• What is one thing you cannot resist?(food/dessert/candy/etc.) One thing I cannot resist is chocolate chip cookies.
• If you could have dinner with one person living or dead who would they be and why? One person I would want to have dinner with would be Nic Stone because she is an excellent writer who likes to write about challenging issues for teenagers.
• What advice would you give to kids who are struggling at school? For students who are struggling I would tell them to reach out to their teachers. All your teachers are willing to help you, you just have to ask.
• Tell us, what is something that might surprise us about you? Something that might surprise you about me is that I won a writing contest while in middle school and was published in a teen writing anthology.
