Kindergarten Displays their Creativity at Painting with a Twist

On Thursday, March 14, 2019, kindergarten students took a trip to Painting with a Twist, where the budding artists put on aprons and were eager to show everyone their painting skills. Before they could, they needed to learn what the "Papa Bear" and "Baby Bear" brushes were used for and how to clean them when done. Each student created a painting of a purple seal, and while they waited for their masterpieces to dry, they played hot potato and heads or tails. In the end, each painting was just as unique as each student.

The students enjoyed the visit, discussed the meaning behind various pieces currently at the museum, and asked some fantastic follow up questions about the museum. Thank you, Ms. Griffith, for your knowledge and time today. We can't wait to come to visit you at the Everson!

Students had a fun-filled day letting out some energy with games like virtual sports, basketball, giant connect four, crazy roller coasters, and so much more. The “space” and “weather” rooms were especially interesting as they correlate perfectly with our Atoms' current science curriculum. Students made deep connections to prior learning through the hands-on, interactive exhibits the Wonderworks Museum offers.

Celebrating Achievement at #SASCS Elementary

On Tuesday, February 26, 2019, after a restful break, Grades 2-4 celebrated positive character strengths along with academic success at the Science Fair during our Student of the Month Award ceremony. The character trait for February was ambition, and all the students awarded work hard toward their goals in the classroom each and every day. In addition, 4th Grade students were commended for their hard work on their individual Science Fair projects which were presented before February Break.

Congratulations to all of our 4th Grade students for their hard work with the Science Fair this year. A special thank you to our judging panel which featured astronomers, college professors, hospital personnel, lab professionals, and engineers among many others. By supporting positive character development and hard work, we are building leaders one Atom at a time!

Celebrating Black History Month

Paying special tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr., the SHEHOOP club invited all high school students to take time out of their History or Social Studies classes for an opportunity to sign their names on posters displaying favorite quotes by the inspirational American leader. The signed posters will remain on display and continue to inspire students and visitors by reminding us of the importance of honoring Martin Luther King, Jr., and his efforts to promote compassion and equality for all.
