Tuesday, January 31st, 2023: It was Kindergarten's turn to roll on to Caz Sports Bowl and Strike up some fun! Syracuse Academy of Science kindergarteners, teachers, and even some parents had a blast learning about forces and motion and just getting out of the classroom for some fun. Thanks, Caz Sports Bowl, for hosting us again!

Tuesday, February 7th, 2023: It doesn't HAVE to be a snowman! Each month, Syracuse Academy of Science elementary sends home projects for students to complete with their families. The projects are voluntary but encouraged so we can all glimpse each student’s family culture, traditions, and stories. We had some fun with January’s project! Families were tasked with taking an ordinary snowman outline and turning it into something else.
Take a look at the “Disguise a Snowman” family project. Thank you to all the families that participated!
Monday, January 6th, 2023: Syracuse Academy of Science 4th graders are making food sculptures out of toilet paper! The artists added color, details, and decorations to their masterpieces.
Sculpture teaches students to think beyond the flat 2nd dimension and bring real-life problem-solving into their artwork. Sculpting also aids in developing observational skills. Students will learn how to watch the world in full detail. They will be more considerate in looking at each part of an object. Besides learning sculpture, scholars will learn to picture the world more realistically.

Friday, January 27th, 2023: Syracuse Academy of Science third graders had a fun-filled day at wonderworks. They experienced hurricane wind stimulation, played mind games, rode a virtual roller coaster, and even laid on a bed of nails (ouch!). The students worked hard the last couple of weeks learning how to tell time and all about Vikings. So, this was a well-deserved “break” to enjoy each other’s company!
Tuesday, January 17th, 2023: Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school's 1A Class was so fortunate to have SANY Superintendent, Dr. Hayali, visit! We discussed what a Superintendent does and why his job is so important. He also took the time to answer all kinds of questions, and our atoms learned all about him! Dr. Hayali left them with a special message to always remember: You are amazing!
Tuesday, January 24th, 2023: Syracuse Academy of Science Atoms are feeling yellow but never mellow. Atoms ditched their uniform tops for their favorite yellow shirt to celebrate the second day of National School Choice Week!
Thank you for choosing SANY!

Friday, January 20th, 2023: You are what you eat, and here at SANY, we believe it’s important to teach children how to make healthy choices. Ms. Tammy from Chartwells shared nutrition education with Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school 3rd Graders. Ms. Tammy taught the 3rd graders how different foods could affect their mood. 3rd graders then got to make delicious Banana Split Parfaits. The students had a great time. SAS Elementary and Chartwells are excited to be able to bring these nutrition education sessions to our scholars again!

January 18-20th, 2023: Snakes and hedgehogs and ferrets… oh my! Second-grade classes at Syracuse Academy of Science spent the day at Little Ray’s Nature Centre. #SASAtoms got a tour where they were introduced to several animals, learned about their habitats, and even touched a few! Students also got to watch a demonstration featuring snakes and tortoises. Atoms were even brave enough to touch a snake! Overall, it was an excellent experience for students to learn about animals and nature outside the classroom!
Friday, January 20th, 2023: Throughout January, SAS Elementary has been collecting donations of coats, hats, gloves, and travel-sized toiletries to donate to We Rise Above the Streets Community Outreach. K-4 Atoms and their families showed how much they care with a strong turnout for donations. We are so grateful to be part of such an amazing and generous community of staff, students, parents, friends, and families.
