Friday, March 13th, 2026: Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary School welcomed Onondaga County Legislator Richard McCarron to speak with our third graders. Mr. McCarron talked all about what he does as a county legislator and how he works to help our community. Students shared their own insights on how to help our community, ranging from controlling the stray cat population to keeping it clean. Mr. McCarron also shared his experiences as a former police officer. He told the students that his favorite part of being involved in politics is getting to come to schools and speak to students just like ours!

Third graders were a very engaged and respectful audience who learned a lot about the various elected officials who serve our community.
