Friday, November 18th, 2022: “There was an Old Lady who swallowed a Turkey! I don't know why she swallowed a turkey, but she's always been quirky!”
On November 18th, SAS elementary school's 3-A class enjoyed a read-aloud by the Dean of Elementary, Mrs. Miller. Mrs. Miller delighted the third graders with the story "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Turkey." Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school Atoms always love having Mrs. Miller join their class to read to them!
Tuesday, December 6th, 2022: Ms. Cahalan’s ‘Kind Kiddos’ Lunch Bunch group continues to be creative in spreading kindness around their school. This month they decided to paint rocks and write positive affirmations or encouraging words on them. They placed these rocks in front of the school building for all staff and students to read as they enter the doors.
Thank you for continuing to spread the positive vibes, Kind Kiddos!

Wednesday, November 30th, 2022: As part of our Culturally Responsive Teachings, throughout November, Syracuse Academy of Science elementary Atoms worked on a family project: Family Traditions. Every family has unique traditions held near and dear to their hearts. They are part of what makes each family special and unique. Families were encouraged to talk about beloved traditions within their homes. Following this conversation, we asked families to help their students draw and write out the four steps of a family tradition to share with our community. Family traditions ranged from holiday traditions, birthdays, family vacations, and the first day of school rituals. We loved getting a glimpse into our students' families and home lives. Stay tuned for December's family project!

Thursday, December 8th, 2022: It’s day four of College and Career Week, and Syracuse Academy of Science had a special guest stop by our school. Syracuse Mayor, Ben Walsh, visited our first graders. Mayor Walsh explained the election process, how it’s his job to keep the community safe, and what he does every day! He also told the students all about his family, his two daughters, and their dog. Atoms were very excited to welcome Mayor Walsh into their class and were eager to learn more about him! Scholars asked the mayor some great questions.
Thank you, Mayor Walsh, for joining us today!
