Wednesday, January 3rd, 2023: Local artist Jaleel Campbell visited Mrs. Merrithew's Senior Craft class. Jaleel was kind enough to offer help with the students' crocheted pieces they have been working on in class. Plus, he talked about the therapeutic benefits of crocheting. Jaleel also told Atoms about his crochet club in Syracuse called "Off the Hook."
Guest speakers always add to our student’s educational experience. Thank you for your time, Jaleel!
Wednesday, December 20th, 2023: Before the winter break, the Syracuse Academy of Science High School Atomic Achievers Club collaborated with Congressional Award students and set up a festive afternoon of cookie decorating!
Thursday, December 21st, 2023: Throughout the month of December, Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary Atoms learned about the character traits, Caring and Compassion. Caring is showing kindness and concern for others. Compassion is showing/having that concern for the misfortunes or sufferings of others.
On December 21st, we celebrated the Atoms that best exemplified those traits. Congratulations to our December Students of the Month!
Friday, December 8th, 2023: Congratulations to the 14 fourth-grade Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary students who participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee! These students worked incredibly hard to learn fourth and fifth-grade words and even made it as far as mastering some sixth-grade words as well. Our top four spellers will move on to the regional online competition in January!
Fantastic job, Atoms!
