Welcome to the PTO for Syracuse Academy of Science. The purpose of our PTO is to promote success for all of our students and to facilitate positive communication between school and home.  The PTO is a group of dedicated parents and teachers who work together to discuss pertinent topics pertaining to our school and different ways to encourage our students to see the importance of academic success.  If you are interested, we would love to see you at our first PTO meeting for the 2009-2010 school year, which will be held on: 

              Wednesday October 7th   6:30 P.M. in Room 103 and will meet on the second Wednesday of every month at  6:30 P.M. Your constructive comments, suggestions and ideas are welcome.

It is my hope that by utilizing the web site we in the PTO can better communicate with the parent population of our school. With this in mind let me try to get you up to date with our actions and ideas.    

   Our SASCS Bridge Building teams were invited to Washington DC to meet with Congressman Walsh. Mr. Jones was invited along as a parent representative; his daughter was part of the team. Mr. Jones said that the trip was great and that Mr. Walsh was enthusiastic not only of our children but also of the Charter School idea as a way help to improve our educational system.

   We are working with Ms.Washington on the senior prom as well as the Graduation. She has been very busy and we will continue to work with her especially as the events draw near. I believe that these events will be quite memorable.

    As many of you know Mrs. Kinney is leaving us. Despite this she is still interested in the future of the music department; we have started researching ways to get instruments into our school. At least two of our new PTO’ers have leads on some brass and string instruments. We can always use help and if you know of any instruments available for donation please let Mrs. Kinney or the PTO know about them.

   SASCS is completing the first year of league play in sports. Our Academic teams continue to do well and we are hoping for the same success in sports. To achieve this we are looking to start an all sport booster club.

    SASCS currently has; Cross Country (boys and girls), Girls Soccer, Boys Basketball, Boys and Girls Track, and Cheerleading. We are looking for someone who would be willing to be part of promoting these activities as part of a subcommittee of the PTO. If you are interested please contact myself through this web site.

   The PTO would like to do more fund raising next year. And we are looking for someone with experience and a great deal of drive to help us. If you are such an individual please contact us.
