Students win 4th place at the NYS Science Fair

SAS  students  KENNETH  MAGWOOD,  DALTON ACKERMAN and KORY PIERRE  competed at the STANYS  State  Congress  at The  College of  Saint  Rose on June 12, 2010, placing 4th among 30 senior division projects.  They also won the Wiley & Sons award for excellence in Chemistry, Physics, and Space Science. The students started  their  projects  in late  November and presented their projects at the  GSSSF  ( Regional  Science  Fair) winning  3rd  and    4th  place award ,  and aninvitation to present at the New York  State  Science  Fair in Albany .  They   redesigned their   boards and practiced their presentations in preparation for Saint Rose.  Their  project  name  was   Bio-Inspired  Solar  Cells  As  A  Clean  Energy  Source  and  Tree  Free   Paper  In  Opposition  To  Conventional   Tree Pulp  Paper.The students want to especially thank Mr. Jett , Mr.  Smith, and Mr. Ozturk at the Syracuse University Physics lab for their guidance and assistance.The STANYS New York State Science Congress was established in 1950 as a means to stimulate interest and proficiency in the sciences.
