The purpose of SAS uniform policy is to help create a safe and orderly environment, instill discipline, and eliminate the competition and distractions caused by varied dress styles. Each student is expected to, and must, arrive in dress code. The following is the uniform code for school. It must be strictly followed. Uniforms Students must wear navy slacks or proper-length skirts. Black slacks and jeans are not permitted. Slacks must fit properly and may not be sagging. Students must wear a light blue polo shirt with the SAS logo. No white tee-shirts will be allowed as outerwear. Girls: Only one ring and a pair of earrings (no large hoops) are permitted. Jewelry should be appropriate for school and not attract undue attention. Neckwear should not be seen. Boys: Neckwear should not be seen. If a tee shirt is worn under the SAS polo shirt, it should be white or blue and free of writing. Sweaters, pullovers or zippered hooded sweatshirts are to be navy blue, burgundy or black, and free of writing. Jackets and coats are not to be worn into classrooms. Hats, caps, scarves, and other headgear may not be worn in the building. Cosmetics should be appropriate for school and not attract undue attention. Facial and body piercings, tattoos, use of hair dyes and bleach are not acceptable. Boys may not grow mustaches and beards. Navy pants can be purchased from area retail stores, including J.C. Penny and Wal-Mart. Light blue SAS polo shirts and SAS sweaters will be available for a reasonable price at SAS. Students, please note . . . If you arrive at school out of uniform, your parents will be notified, you will be kept out of classes until you are dressed appropriately, and all class time that you miss will count as an unexcused absence. For repeat offenders, further discipline will be considered. SAS reserves the right to decide on the appropriateness of jewelry.
