Atoms Make A Difference to over 200 Families

Syracuse Academy of Science high school congressional Award students volunteered their time at the Blessing Box CNY event helping over 200 families during this holiday season.

Sunday, December 12th, 2021Last weekend Mr. Yaman's Congressional Awards students headed out to the greater Syracuse community to not only lend a hand, but to ultimately make a difference (and an impact) this holiday season to over 200 families at the Blessing Box CNY Food Distribution event - a local organization aimed to help fight hunger.

During the event, Atoms helped sort various household items, non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, hats and mittens into boxes and bags for those in need to pick up and take with them.

Thank you Atoms for helping make a difference in our community. Keep up the great work, and we look to continue hearing (and seeing) the ways you have made an impact in serving the greater Syracuse community.

Fun in the Sun during a Heat Wave in Syracuse

Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school students enjoyed fun in the sun during their outdoor recess on an unseasonably warm day.

Tuesday, November 9th, 2021As snow looks to be in the forecast, we wanted to be and bring a little sunshine to you on this Tuesday afternoon! Earlier this month, Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school students enjoyed the great outdoors (and some fun in the sun) on a particularly warm day in Central New York. While we all remained hopeful that the warm weather would stick around, it does appear that snow and colder weather are inevitably near. Thank you for sharing Atoms, fingers crossed that warm weather will be back sometime soon!

Gobble, Gobble it’s Almost Thanksgiving Recess!

Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school teachers participated in a ‘Turkey Hunt’ activity where they found 12 turkey bags throughout the building with its matching goody bag.

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021Time with the Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school Atoms, is time well spent! As students, teachers, faculty and staff gear up for Thanksgiving Recess, we couldn’t help but notice that the halls looked a bit different this morning, thanks to Dean of Elementary, Mrs. Miller. Earlier this morning, Mrs. Miller decked the halls with 12 ‘free-range’ turkeys and goody bags for the teachers to find. This impressive turkey hunt was a great way to kick-off the upcoming Thanksgiving Recess.

One cannot simply talk turkey without mentioning the creative class project and activity from the 2nd grade Atoms in Ms. Fogarty and Ms. Cahalan’s class. On the eve of Thanksgiving Recess, the students shared what they were thankful for this holiday season. In addition, both Ms. Fogarty and Ms. Cahalan also took a moment to share with the Atoms a little activity they were working on, ' 27 Reasons to be Thankful.' Both teachers took the time to recognize and write down on a feather each student's talent and characteristic. The feathers were presented to the Atoms, who could add them to their turkey.

It’s safe to say that the Atoms have the tur-’KEY’ to our hearts! These small moments are big memories that will last forever! We hope all of our Atoms have a very wonderful, happy, and healthy Thanksgiving recess.
