Atoms found out that Respect means admiring or looking up to someone because that person has done something extraordinary or possesses impressive abilities. Respect is also an act of giving attention or showing you care.

SAS 2nd Graders Take on SUNY Oswego

Syracuse Academy of Science 2nd Graders Tour SUNY Oswego Campus

Thursday, April 13th, 2023: Syracuse Academy of Science second-grade students spent the day touring and learning about the SUNY Oswego campus. They saw a residence hall and took a trip to the theater, where they did a color-sorting activity learning about how the cones in your eyes absorb colors. Students also saw the miniature Zamboni named "Mini" and watched it shoot out a t-shirt. They had to estimate the distance it traveled and then measure it (17 meters in case anyone was wondering!) This tour was organized and run by the Education Department at SUNY Oswego, where future teachers could plan their daily activities.

It was a wonderful experience for our young Atoms. Not many 2nd graders can say they’ve toured a college before!

SAS HS Atoms Visit Two Universities in Buffalo

Syracuse Academy of Science Juniors & Seniors Tour D'Youville and Daemen Universities

Tuesday, March 28th, 2023: Mr. Stowe took Syracuse Academy of Science students to visit D'Youville and Daemen Universities in Buffalo, NY. It was an excellent opportunity for seniors to experience campus life. For the Juniors, it was an eye-opening experience, and some ended up adding an unexpected school to their application list. All got treated to a delicious lunch at D'Youville and saw Daemen's student residence hall. Sadly, Mr. Stowe couldn't get the students to try Tim Hortons. He was informed that most college campuses have Starbucks, which would be more authentic to the experience. See, even Mr. Stowe learned something!
