The SAS Middle School held its first Student of the Month ceremony

On Friday, September 30th, 2016, the SAS Middle School held its first Student of the Month ceremony. Students were awarded certificates for their hard work in their core classes as well as special presentations for specials. This is a great time for students and faculty alike as we get the opportunity to recognize the amazing efforts of our Atoms. A special award was also given to Ms. IIlynn McLauren for an outstanding demonstration of citizenship. Keep up the great work Atoms!

2nd Grade Trip to Beak and Skiff

On Monday and Tuesday, September 19th and 20th, 2016, the second graders at SAS Elementary went on their annual apple picking field trip at Beak and Skiff. After picking lots of apples in the orchard, the students were able to enjoy delicious apple donuts and fresh apple cider. To finish of the day, the students played on the large playground at the orchard, which included a spider web jungle gym and large slide. Everyone had a wonderful time celebrating the start of the Fall season!

Back to School Night at SAS Elementary

On Thursday, September 8th, 2016, the Elementary school welcomed all parents for Back to School Night. Parents were able to meet the teachers of their children, as well as visit their classrooms. The students also displayed work they have done so far during the school year. It was wonderful to see and meet everyone!

Scholastic Bookaneers at SAS Elementary!

On September 12th through the 16th, 2016, Scholastic Book Fair came to SAS Elementary! With the theme, "Bookaneers," our students were able to get some amazing new books for their libraries! As a school, we surpassed our goal of $2000, and reached $3300! A special thank you to everyone who helped make the book fair a tremendous success!

Grandparent's Day with SAS Elementary

On Monday, September 12, 2016, SAS Elementary had an event to celebrate the grandparents of our students. They came in and sat with their grandchildren while enjoying some granola bars and juice. It was nice to take a break from school and spend some time with our grandparents!

SAS Elementary Staff Train with American Diabetes Association

On Tuesday, September 6th, 2016, several members of the SAS Elementary staff participated in a voluntary training with Patty Palladino through the American Diabetes Association in September. Staff members were trained in basic care for students with diabetes, as well as in warning signs for high and low blood sugar. At SAS, we are continuing to learn everyday!

The 5th graders took their first annual trip to Big Don's Wild River Golf

On Thursday, September 29th, 2016, the 5th graders took their first annual trip to Big Don's Wild River Golf. This year, the staff at Big Don's added a new activity for our students, LASER TAG. Students and teachers battled it out in a test of strength and will! Students also enjoyed the elaborately decorated mini golf course. The 18 holes were filled with fun and excitement for all of our students. Each student capped off the activity with a time challenge run through Big Don's Maze! Lastly, our students gathered around the iconic "Big Bear" for a group picture. This was the first of many trips for the 5th grade. We are looking forward to a great year with amazing activities! Go ATOMS!
