SAS MS Atoms go Wheels up for Civil Air Patrol Visit

Members of the Civil Air Patrol Visit Syracuse Academy of Science Middle School

Wednesday, February 8th, 2023: Colonel Thomas Carello from the Civil Air Patrol, Mary Wood, Charles Garland, and Abdul Shakir from the Onondaga County chapter of the Rotary Club spoke with our 6th and 7th-grade students about Civil Air Patrol. Syracuse Academy of Science Atoms learned about the opportunity to experience the flight simulator at Hancock airport and how to obtain their private pilot's license by age 16! Our Atoms were very engaged in the conversation and asked insightful questions. The program Colonel Carello talked about starts at age 12 and is free to any of our students who wish to participate.
